Welcome to Direct-Me.org. These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the Direct-Me.org website and services, including any communications you receive from us via SMS, WhatsApp, or email. By using our site or providing your contact information, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.
1. About Direct-Me.org
Direct-Me.org is a local business directory for Pendleton, Oregon, and surrounding communities. Our services include:
- Free and paid business listings in a searchable online directory
- Business profile management — adding, updating, or removing listing information
- Communications about your listing — confirmations, updates, renewals, and support messages
- Community information — local business news, category highlights, and directory announcements
- User search and discovery — helping residents find local businesses, services, and contact information
We communicate with business owners and users through SMS, WhatsApp, and email as part of delivering these services.
2. User Responsibilities
By using Direct-Me.org, you agree to:
- Provide accurate information. Business owners are responsible for ensuring that all submitted listing information (name, address, phone, hours, services) is accurate and up to date. Knowingly submitting false or misleading information may result in removal from the directory.
- Use the platform lawfully. You agree not to use Direct-Me.org or its communications for any unlawful purpose, including harassment, spam, fraud, or violation of applicable laws.
- Not abuse the platform. You agree not to attempt to disrupt, hack, scrape without permission, or otherwise interfere with the operation of Direct-Me.org.
- Respect intellectual property. Content you submit (photos, descriptions, logos) must be owned by you or used with proper permission. By submitting content, you grant Direct-Me.org a non-exclusive license to display it on the directory.
- Keep contact information current. If your phone number or email changes, you are responsible for updating your listing to ensure you continue receiving important service messages.
3. Communication Consent and Messaging Terms
Consent to Receive Messages
By providing your phone number or email address to Direct-Me.org — whether through a website form, a verbal agreement, a text message, a WhatsApp conversation, or any other method — you agree to receive service-related messages from Direct-Me.org. These messages may include:
- Listing confirmation and onboarding messages
- Requests for information to complete or update your listing
- Service notifications and renewal reminders
- Responses to your inquiries or support requests
- Information about listing upgrades or featured placement options
Message Channels
We may contact you via:
- SMS (text message) — sent from a Twilio-managed phone number
- WhatsApp — sent via the WhatsApp Business platform
- Email — sent from @direct-me.org addresses via Amazon SES
Message Frequency
Message frequency varies based on your interaction with our services. You may receive occasional messages during onboarding, periodic reminders about your listing, and responses to any messages you send us. We do not send daily promotional blasts or unsolicited mass marketing messages.
Message and Data Rates
Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier plan. Direct-Me.org is not responsible for any charges from your carrier associated with receiving SMS or WhatsApp messages.
Opting Out
You may opt out of messaging at any time:
- SMS: Reply STOP to any text message
- WhatsApp: Reply STOP to any WhatsApp message
- Email: Click the “Unsubscribe” link in any email, or reply requesting removal
- All channels: Email us at privacy@direct-me.org
After opting out, you will no longer receive marketing or outreach messages. We may still send messages strictly necessary to complete a transaction or service you have specifically requested.

4. Business Listings
Free Listings
Basic listings are provided as a public service to the Pendleton community. Direct-Me.org reserves the right to create, edit, or remove listings at our discretion to maintain accuracy and quality.
Paid/Upgraded Listings
Premium listing features (enhanced placement, photos, extended descriptions, etc.) are available for a fee as described on our Pricing page. Payment terms, renewal schedules, and refund policies are described at the time of purchase.
Listing Accuracy
While we make reasonable efforts to verify listing information, Direct-Me.org does not guarantee the accuracy of any listing. Business owners are solely responsible for the accuracy of their submitted content. Users should verify business details directly before visiting or making purchases.
5. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:
- Direct-Me.org is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
- We do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or secure operation of the website or messaging services.
- We are not responsible for any errors, omissions, or inaccuracies in business listings.
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site or reliance on listing information.
- Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the site shall not exceed the amount you have paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim (or $100 if you have paid nothing).
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
6. Modifications and Discontinuation of Services
Direct-Me.org reserves the right to:
- Modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of our services, including messaging communications, at any time with or without notice
- Update these Terms and Conditions at any time; continued use of our services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance
- Change our pricing, listing features, or service offerings at any time
- Remove listings that violate these Terms or that we determine are inaccurate, misleading, or harmful
We will make reasonable efforts to notify affected users of significant changes to services.
7. Intellectual Property
The Direct-Me.org name, logo, website design, and original content are owned by Direct-Me.org. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without written permission.
Business listing content (names, addresses, logos, photos) remains the property of the respective businesses. By submitting content to Direct-Me.org, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display that content on the directory for as long as the listing is active.
8. Privacy
Your use of Direct-Me.org is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Please review it to understand our data practices.
9. Termination and Removal
Business Owners
You may request removal of your business listing at any time by contacting us at privacy@direct-me.org or through the contact form on our website. We will process removal requests within 5 business days.
Users
You may stop using Direct-Me.org at any time. To request deletion of any personal information we hold, contact us at privacy@direct-me.org.
Our Rights
We reserve the right to terminate or restrict access to our services for any user or business that violates these Terms, engages in abusive behavior, or poses a risk to the platform or community.
10. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of Direct-Me.org shall be resolved in the courts of Umatilla County, Oregon.
If you have a dispute with us, we encourage you to contact us first at privacy@direct-me.org to try to resolve it informally before pursuing formal legal action.
